DIY Paint Template Poster

Aren't grandma hobbies just divine? This craft is quick, inexpensive, and super fun to make out of upcycled/seemingly useless items. It can be used for any holiday, special event, or momentous occasion you choose. As you can see, the first time I made this craft was a little under a year and a half ago. Wow. Keep scrolling for the full instructions!(-:

SUPPLIES:
  • Paint cards/sample templates (these can be found at craft, Wal-Mart, or hardware stores- anywhere they sell paint!)
  • Poster board (in your color of choice; I recommend white, though for this I used sparkly black)
  • Pencil
  • Sharpie(s)
  • Scissors
  • Tape/hot glue gun
  • Ruler (optional)
HOW TO:
1.  Cut out a square or rectangle in your poster board as big as you want. (Optional: Trace out your straight, perfect measurements with a ruler for a clean look, and then cut along the lines.)

2.  Lay the paint cards out in whatever arrangement you like.

3.  Find a quote or group of words you're going to use. I used one of my own quotes, but yours can be a personal message or famous quote. Using a pencil lightly write out your words on the cards. Keep doing this until you find an order that looks best. (Note: you can write several words on one paint card if you want.

4.  Trace over with the sharpie. (Note: get creative! you can use multiple sharpies for a more colorful look, go white on black or black on white, or use the same colored paint template i.e. all yellow cards and different colored sharpies to draw more attention to the words. The possibilities are endless!

5.  Using your tape or hot glue gun, adhere the paint templates to the poster board.

6.  Frame it and hang it on your wall, or gift to a friend to keep! Enjoy your DIY masterpiece ;)

What do you guys think? Hoping ya made today a good day, because you have control over your life and don't lose that! I love this simple craft. Makes good use of seemingly useless everyday objects. Be sure to send me pictures if you recreate this with the hashtag #diyaug! It'd be great to see them :)

Craft away, friends. Don't give up on a difficult project because-
life is spontaneously splendid.
