Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

Book: Tuesday's with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Length: 224 Pages (it's a small book, as pictured above)
Genre(s): sociology/philosophy, memoir

Not only is it shocking that this book is based off the author's life and a teacher he actually had (I mean, how lucky can you be to get a college professor as insightful, caring, and kind as Morrie? I had thought for sure that he was made up), it's one of those kinds of books where everyone walks away with something. In short, it's life changing.

Although it was written and published years ago, it's completely relevant to today. Every chapter teaches, inspires, opens your mind or gives you a solution to a problem you've been thinking of. And Mitch Albom does a splendid job of describing his path back to his favorite professor and the exchanges they have in the time they get together while Morrie battles amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Lou Gehrig's disease, a deadly illness of the neurological system that slowly works its way to rendering Morrie more and more vulnerable with each visit.

"What is the purpose of life?" When you finish this book, you'll know. Several topics about our generation, our society, and our world as a whole are brought up in here such as money, death, feeling sorry for yourself, forgivenesses, and more, all of which are presented in the contents section. The advice Morrie hands to his old student is always centered around doing the right thing, reminding us that hope is never lost. For anyone looking for reassurance, wanting to have their mind broadened, or looking for a touching novel about the impact a wise teacher or elderly can have on a student, pick this book up as soon as possible.

What are some books you want to read? Thoughts on this one? My heart is going to burst with such pure happiness at the sight of all this sunshine and warmish weather (53F is basically summer, right?) Have an amazing, amazing weekend. Life is spontaneously splendid.
